Summer Entertaining
My granddaughters (K and S) recently came up from Austin for a day at Tyler Junior College getting “certified” to baby sit. They learned about emergencies, they learned CPR, they learned some positive discipline tips, they learned how to interview for a babysitting job, and they even came home with some business cards to get started. Of course, they may be too busy with summer fun to actually get jobs. 🙂
They both love swimming so that keeps them pretty busy while they are here. S and her dad left after a couple of days to go to a camp in Oklahoma, so K stayed a couple more days with us.
Because K loves parties, we had a Tea Party for my neighbors. That meant we had to do a little work… like cleaning and cooking. Kendall was a lot of help getting ready. She dried dishes, she measured all of the dry ingredients for the Banana Nut Bread we made. She picked off 3 cups worth of cilantro leaves for the Guacamole Hummus Dip we made. She cut up the corn tortillas for the baked chips, she rimmed the margarita glasses with sugar for the Citrus Margaritas we served, and helped pick the flowers. Once the guests arrived, she welcomed them, helped serve and chatted with everyone. Unfortunately, during the party we were too busy to take pictures. 🙁
The next morning there was a nice breeze blowing and sitting in the shade we were able to have a leisurely breakfast outside before having to pack up for the end of our visit.
